pCMS is designed to
allow a website owner to maintain all or just a part of a web
page. There is no limitation on the number of web pages than
can be updated by pCMS (one minimum, no upper limit).
Let's get to it and talk about
it later...
For demonstration purposes,
only one page is updateable: A generic "About" page.
To see how pCMS works, all you
have to do is the following:
-
Click
here to see the current About page. Look it
over. (The page appears in
a new window: close to return to this page).
-
Click
here to access the pCMS admin console (Also in a new
window).
-
Click the Edit...
button near the top of the admin console page (as noted,
there is only one page available to this demonstration).
-
Make
changes to the text and - CLICK
THE Update BUTTON!
-
Close
the admin window.
-
Click
here to see the About page with the changes you
made.
-
Repeat
until you go silly... (if you want)
-
The "Five
Page Tutorial" is available here,
if you need one.
Okay - now you've see it in
action and besides my proving the obvious that Yes, you can
update your own website - personally - give some
thought about what that really means!
You could -
- Maintain an entire website
(including just parts of pages).
- Make a list of things like Links,
Fee schedules or list of services - created
anyway you want them to look.
- If you wanted a calendar
with pictures - you could create your own as a text
presentation.
- Show current projects in
progress (reminder: with photos)
- Do something like put News
briefs, new client lists, a list of donors in one tiny box
on a web page - or - on a whole page.
- Forget about the worries of
losing your web person - forever.
- Update your site at 3:00am
from anywhere in the world where there's an Internet
connection.
- Got imagination? Use it!
Special:
The answer to the most frequently received email question
about pCMS:
Isn't it
true that search engines cannot access information updated
online like this because its hidden in a database file they
can't read?
Answer: For
someone else's similar system, that is usually true. The
pCMS system, however, is absolutely, 100% search
engine compatible.
It also works
with any conventional web page (.htm, .html, .shtm, .shtml
and probably some others we haven't tested yet).
Not bad for a product that only
costs $149.00 (plus page conversion charges
here) - installed!
In case you missed them, there
are a couple of limitations:
- You cannot arbitrarily
create new pages (linking problems).
- Full functionality is
available only if you are using Microsoft's
Internet Explorer web browser (version 6.2800.x
service pack 2 or later).
- Photo images from digital
cameras must be processed to make them smaller, otherwise
they will be too big for use on a website. This is simple
to do and the Tutorial contains step-by-step instructions.

page and tell us what you have in mind...
