First - thank you for at
least looking at this page. It is provided in an attempt to
stave off even more emails on the theme of: Did I
read that correctly? Or - Does that mean what I think
it does?
Well, I won't pretend to tell
anyone what to think, but that line on the preceding page
that reads:
(CDMCSS.com
solutions) allow website owners to keep their information
up-to-date in the simplest way possible and without
reliance on third-party services.
Means - exactly what it says!
To wit:
If you happen to be using Microsoft's
Internet Explorer web browser (version 6.2800.x or
later), you can modify the text of a web page on
your website, any time you want or need to, from anywhere
in the world where you can snag a connection to the
Internet and without:
- Resorting to
"traditional" web page update methods
- Purchasing and learning
a stack of specialty software
- Learning how to
"write code"
- Knowing beans about how
websites are put together or what makes them work.
One of the founding
principles of CDMCSS.com back about 1998 was the concept
that website owners should be able to update their own
sites.
The reasons are both simple
and to the point:
- Your "friend" or
other agency that created the site, might not be able to
update it months or years down the road (lose interest
or go out of business).
- You, as the website owner,
already know what information needs to be on your
site; all you need is a way to get the job done (without
delays through a third-party).
- It's your website
The last item (not
surprisingly) is the most important in the list, if for no
other reason than -
You, as the owner of a
website, are responsible for its content as well as its
success or failure.
Not your designer, not your
web person - You.
